Kim Ji-soo‘s seemingly innocuous comment on fellow South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun appeared to have put him at an awkward situation.
Ji-soo briefly spoke about Soo-hyun when asked by “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB): Celebrity Edition Collab” housemate Esnyr Ranollo if he ever had the chance to meet the “Queen of Tears” star personally, as seen in a clip uploaded by a fan account on TikTok.

Ji-soo thought about Esnyr’squestion for a moment before responding with: “Not really. I mean, yeah, I haven’t met [him] personally.”

While Esnyr’s question was chalked down to his having been inside the PBB house, thus, could not have known about Soo-hyun’s current predicament involving former child actress Kim Sae-ron, Ji-soo was not easily left off the hook.
Netizens claimed Ji-soo might meet Soo-hyun “soon,” with some pointing out the increasing presence of South Korean celebrities in Filipino mainstream media.

Soo-hyun has been accused of being a “pedophile” after he was reported to be in a relationship with Sae-ron when she was a minor and he was 27 years old, and he allegedly ignored the late actress during the height of her DUI incident in 2022 where she accumulated millions of debt, among other issues.
The “Dream High” star confirmed that they were indeed together, however, he claimed that he and the actress started dating “from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020.” He also firmly denied that he romantically pursued her when she was still a minor.
Meanwhile, Ji-soo was accused of bullying, school violence, and sexual assault when he was a student in March 2021. He eventually apologized in a handwritten letter, stating that he has “no room for excuses” for what he did in the past.
“I would like to sincerely apologize to those who were hurt by me. I have absolutely no room for excuses for my actions in the past. They were unforgivable,” he said. “But deep inside, I always held a sense of guilt in one part of my heart… I now beg forgiveness to those who were undoubtedly deeply hurt for a long time, seeing me acting, and I will reflect on the unforgivable actions of my past and repent.”
Ji-soo’s contract was terminated by South Korean agency KeyEast in May 2021, and he enlisted in the military five months later.
Three years later, the actor reiterated that he was able to “clear up misunderstandings” with the people involved, noting he is focused on “moving forward” with his life.
“I’ve been able to clear up misunderstandings with the friends involved. We talked and reconciled, and I am now focused on moving forward with my life and career,” he told Sports Chosun.
Ji-soo has been signed with GMA’s Sparkle since 2024, and has appeared in local dramas such as “Black Rider,” “Abot Kamay ng Pangarap,” and “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko,” as well as the film “Mujigae.”
Before his controversies in South Korea, the actor was best known for his lead roles in “Strong Woman Do Bong-soon,” “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,” and “Cheer Up,” to name a few.
